Bio-based platform chemicals
A sound business model
De-risk supply chains while nurturing the planet
Circularity isn't just about reducing emissions, it's a smarter business model. Here's why:
Eliminate waste and pollution
By designing products to circulate and return to nature, we transform the take-make-waste system into a regenerative one where nothing is lost.
We work with carbon that's already in the natural cycle
Biomass captures biogenic carbon from the atmosphere and releases it back when it’s used. This means that we're creating value without adding more carbon to the cycle.
We use second-generation feedstock: low-cost, sustainable, and abundant
Our proprietary technology uses non-food, waste-based feedstock such as forest, agricultural, and sugarcane residues. Unlike "first-generation" feedstocks such as corn or sugar, cellulosic biomass does not compete with food supply and has lower carbon intensity.
We reduce exposure to global supply chains by sourcing locally
Locally sourced feedstock provides resilience against geopolitical or logistical disruptions of petrochemicals. In addition, our technology platform works with several types of feedstock, providing an unparalleled flexibility compared to other second-generation technologies.
The bottom line: More flexibility. Lower emissions. Less volatility.
Circularity isn’t just better for the planet, it’s a competitive advantage for businesses that want to thrive, now and in the future

Demonstrated results, in real-life industrial settings
At our biorefinery in Georgia, we've successfully demonstrated the production of high-purity C5 and C6 sugars from
low-cost lignocellulosic biomass with our AVAP technology. Compared with corn dextrose sugars, our high-purity cellulosic sugars
provide an 82% reduction of GHG emissions.
We've been successfully producing and supplying C5 and C6 at our Thomaston biorefinery for over a decade.
Backed by the U.S. Department of Energy, we have been working with industry partners such as DSM and BASF to further test and demonstrate our high-purity sugars' performance in the production of high-value chemicals, at parity with xylose and dextrose.

Conversion & Academic Partners
Together with partners such as BASF, Clark Atlanta University and USDA we've cracked the 2G sugars code to achieve the highest yields in the 2G industry, ranging from 87 to 97%, depending on the feedstock used.
