Ryan O’Connor
I.P. Counsel
Dr. Ryan O’Connor is a registered U.S. patent counsel and brings 30 years of experience spanning biorefineries, strategic R&D, and intellectual property leadership. Since 2017, he serves as Patent Counsel at GranBio where he leads the company’s I.P. strategy, valuation, and monetization efforts. During his tenure, GranBio’s patent portfolio has grown to approximately 400 granted and pending patents globally.
Prior to this, Dr. O’Connor was the Chief Intellectual Property Officer at American Process, Inc., where he was a named co-inventor on dozens of proprietary biorefinery innovations. He also served as Director of Intellectual Property at Range Fuels, Inc., where he successfully negotiated IP provisions with the U.S. Department of Energy for a $76 million funding award.
Earlier in his career, Dr. O’Connor held engineering and research roles at NatureWorks (Cargill). He holds a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Minnesota and a B.S. in Chemical Engineering, summa cum laude, from the University of Notre Dame. He is admitted to practice patent law at the USPTO, the PTAB, and WIPO.
