Dr. Kim Nelson is an innovation and technology leader with more than 20 years of experience in biorefining, advanced renewable materials, and product & partnerships development. As Chief Technology Officer at GranBio, she oversees technology strategy and leads the company’s government affairs activities.
With more than 20 patents granted and over 50 patents pending in biorefinery technologies that convert biomass into fuels, chemicals, and advanced materials, Dr. Nelson is a recognized expert and frequent speaker at industry events.
Dr. Nelson is Chair of the Board of Directors for the Technical Association of the Pulp and Paper Industry (TAPPI) and has been listed in the Bioeconomy500 by Biofuels Digest for her industry‑advancing contributions.
She holds a PhD in Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology, an MS from the Institute of Paper Science and Technology, and a BA in Mathematics and Chemistry from Agnes Scott College.
